Some of the highlights for us from 2007 were: -In May we enjoyed a delightful family reunion with Jill's family at Hilton Head, South Carolina. We stayed in a huge beautiful beach house and enjoyed the soft sand and crashing waves each day. It was a week of laughter and love. We had an absolute blast and created a lot of great memories. -Last summer we panned for gold in the city of Gold Bar nearby and got to spend a day at the zoo, compliments of our neighborhood’s builder. -Maranda is finishing 6th grade, and still enjoys Latin and science the most. For fun she writes science fiction stories, reads, and does cartwheels. She also spent a lot of time sketching people. -Lydia is finishing 4th grade, and prefers grammar and Spanish as her favorite subjects. She "discovered" Bob Ross and is having a great time practicing her painting skills. She also likes to read and cut out very small detailed houses and dolls. -Alexander was baptized in July! It was Philip’s privilege to guide him through it. He continued his Tae Kwon Do training, earning a green belt. He made wonderful progress in the three ‘R’s’ in 2nd grade. He has great fun reading signs when we’re out. -Sophia began to show interest in her letters this past year, so has entered our ‘school’ as a preschooler. She loves pointing out the letter S and shouting out her age whenever anyone mentions ‘4’ of anything! -Peter will be 2 at the end of Feb. He is a hoot to listen to now as he’s such a copy cat. Figuring out what he’s saying is challenging at times, but is a fun ‘chore’ we all enjoy. -Grandpa Phil came and helped Philip finish the back patio. It looks awesome and we are so glad to have that done. Its unique shape and colors add another beauty to our yard. Philip has done so many creative things out back that we enjoy. -Philip began a second, part time job in August. Although it’s necessary financially, it’s been tough having him gone most evenings and weekends. We’re thankful he works at home during the day! He has enjoyed the interaction and putting his skills to use in a different context. -Jill concluded her studies in FX trading and is currently exploring that ability. She began the old art of homemade bread baking, and enjoyed the challenge of making that perfect loaf. Singing on the worship team was a blessing she enjoyed last year as well. With hopes and prayers that you have a blessed 2008 with your family! Please keep in touch as you find the time. We’d love to hear from you. – Phil, Jill, Maranda, Lydia, Alexander, Sophia and Peter
